When you adopt my book Think Like a Nurse: The Caputi Method for Learning Clinical Judgment, or when you adopt both the book and the Caputi Online Clinical Judgment Course, I provide the following complimentary faculty development.
- For schools that adopt my book Think Like a Nurse: The Caputi Method for Learning Clinical Judgment as a required student textbook that each student must purchase, I provide faculty resources including a weekly topical outline, weekly lesson plans, and classroom activities faculty can use as they teach clinical judgment. I also provide a 1-hour complimentary virtual session to discuss how to teach clinical judgment.
- Starting June 1, 2022 the Caputi Online Clinical Judgment Course will be available. This online course uses Think Like a Nurse: The Caputi Method for Learning Clinical Judgment as the required text for the course. For schools that adopt both the book and the Caputi Online Clinical Judgment Course (available in US only at this time) as required for each student to purchase, I provide a complimentary 3-hour virtual workshop for faculty on how to teach and use the clinical judgment I teach in the book and the online course. I also provide an additional 1-hour per month complimentary question and answer period, to extend over a one-year period when we can discuss teaching clinical judgment – or other educational issues you may want to discuss at that time. That’s a total of 15 hours complimentary online consultation!

The Caputi Online Clinical Judgment Course is a way to provide consistency when teaching students clinical judgment – so all students learn the same thing!
I firmly believe the $59 cost of the book (ordering 5 or more copies from the publisher) and the $80 fee for the online course is the best $140 your students will spend in their educational career. For that price, I teach students a clinical judgment framework they can use throughout their entire nursing career and in any nursing environment.
Just an FYI: Some ask: Why is there an additional cost for the online course? The book and online course are priced separately for a reason. Please understand that when students purchase the book, they are not automatically charged for the online course. This is different from other publishers. I just used a mental health nursing book that cost the students $220 which includes the book and all online materials – if the student uses the online materials or not! As a faculty myself with over 30 years teaching experience, I believe in only charging students for what they use, thus the separate pricing. Perhaps that is the approach all publishers should take!
